FullMetal Alchemist is the story of brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric.
"Humankind can not gain anything without first giving something in return..." Alchemy is a science, one based on the
above demonstrated principal of Equivalent Exchange.
When Ed and Al loose someone very close to them they decide against all sense to try to bring her back, disregarding
that principal and thinking they had nothing left to loose. They find they were wrong though, and as a result of their
human transmutation gone wrong Ed is left with a metal, known as "auto-mail" arm and leg, and Alphonse's soul is sealed in
a large suit of armor.
The story of FullMetal Alchemist details the Elric brothers search for the Philosopher's Stone, the one thing rumored
to have enough power to return their bodies to the way they were.
Knowing they have to do something and move on, the boys head to Central when Ed becomes a State Alchemist. This job has
its perks, but it also leads both Edward and Al into many near death situations.
A serial killer is bent on destroying all State Alchemists, Ed included, and mysterious creatures known as Homunculus
are trying to manipulate the brothers from behind the scenes. Ed has to work through all this in his search for redemption.
The Ishbalan Massacre has left huge scars across the country, and religious hatred is still strong. Will those who worship
Ishbala ever be able to live in peace again? The State has commited horrible crimes against these people, are they
still haunted because of them?
In the end, the final question is, Will Ed and Al ever succeed?
